.:.I’ve Always Seen You.:. .:.Two Years Ago.:.
Of the few times during her time of forcefully serving the Carnival...at what she that she could remember...her master, her father and the majority of the freaks had left the safety net of their hideaway to create whatever havoc they were out to do.
She didn’t ask questions, she just watched her father follow them blindly with the promise that he would return. There were no marching orders given, no one told to keep a close eye on the wandering young girl...she actually was granted freedom to explore their current locale.
She wouldn’t get far in her exploration. She was recently disciplined for another round of insubordination for questioning her master’s motives. Despite her father’s meager attempt to dissuade them from getting her well deserved punishment, she accepted it. Inside the Carnival sometimes the pain from the beatings she got was the only indication that she was still alive.
With a slight limp, that had taken its sweet time to heal for the last week, she would quietly pad around the hard floors in her bare feet. It was so quiet that as much as she tried to stay silent, it was not happening. But no one came after her....though she could easily feel a pair of curious eyes on her. She knew the boy in the walls had not left with the group, so she wouldn’t have been surprised that it was him. She missed seeing him, after he had made sure she was taken care of he sort of vanished again without so much of a goodbye or even his name.
But she wouldn’t forget those eyes, the most unusual set of brown eyes that were almost hypnotizing.
But she wouldn’t put him in the line of danger that she was in, maybe he was her own personal guardian angel...heh...doubtful. No one in this hell deserves that unfortunate task of having to take care of her. Her own father barely did that, throwing her to the wolves whenever he felt like their master was on the precipice of something that would bring him harm.
The son of a bitch was good at deflecting.
Back to her discovery of the confiscated compound, the young lady turned and found herself in a room with a mirrored wall. It was a massive room too but the whole place was empty like it hadn’t been discovered yet. If the freaks had found it, they would have more than likely destroyed their own disgusting reflections. But it was untouched and unscathed...and peaceful.
Her footsteps slightly echoed against the walls as she just looked around and stopped when she caught her reflection. Her long red hair, wild, unwashed. The bruises on her face in that purple stage. Her lip was still slightly swollen around the cut that she was pretty sure would leave a permanent scar when it did finally heal. Her eyes dropped in shame for a moment, but eventually her spiteful nature brought her eyes back up as she stepped closer and bringing her left hand up to the mirror, touching it ever so slightly.
“What do we have to do to get out of this hell?” she whispered.
She would step a little closer, her eyes never leaving the reflection but it was like she was looking through it.
As if she knew that on the other side of the mirror she was saying goodbye....For on the other side was the boy in the wall, his eyes filled with tears with his right hand touching his own side, matching the location of the lost girl that he tried so hard to protect. In his other hand he clutched a letter with news he was dreading. He had to go. He could sneak her out but they would be hunted down, put them in even more danger, and where he had to go, he wouldn’t be able to save them both.
Leaning his head against the mirror and staring deeply through the window on his side of the 2-way mirror, trying to memorize those green eyes. Hoping she wouldn’t forget him and eventually forgive him when he’d find her again.
Then he’d step back and with a remote in his hand, he would press a button and the lights on her side went out, he watched as she stepped back in surprise, those green eyes wide, when in glowing letters she saw one simple word:
‘Goodbye’.
.:.Present Day.:.
She knew why the compound that she was brought to all that time ago felt familiar. She had been there before but she wasn’t going to make a big deal about it. But the one thing that had sat with her was finding that room. She would spend hours when she wasn’t training with V or in the medical ward with the Doc or hanging out with Muri, she would scour the building in an attempt to find that room that she both loved and loathed at the same time.
V knew what she was up to, of course, and there were times he would steer her away just to see how she would react. He knew it was getting to her and eventually she would find her way back there.
Ever since her loss of the Victory Championship, it was even more evident now more than ever that she needed this one tiny little victory.
Eddy claimed she wasn’t ready because they all knew that the room was perhaps that moment where her innocence was lost.
“How are you absolutely certain that her finding that damn place is what she needs the most?” Eddy would ask as he and V stood above the training area, watching her never slowing down.
“Because you didn’t see what I saw before she lost that title. She wants to so badly let it all go and heal, finally. I was so close...” V said folding his arms across his broad chest, “If we let her in there...I may get my ass kicked but she needs to find out that she was never truly alone.”
“Even when she was?” The doc said behind them both, “I get what you are going for V. I approve it and honestly may be a great way to bring that little bit of personality out that we saw following her loss. She won’t regress from it, she’s come to far and she knows it.”
Eddy would just throw his hands up at the two of them, “Fine...whatever. No crying though when she breaks your face off in that mirror.”
“I’ll take the chance of ruining my devilish good looks, if it means that we get the full power of Angel Wilde. She was Victory Champ on half power...imagine her finally coming to grips of it all.” V smirked before walking away, taking note of her eyes never leaving the path he was taking.
The cat and mouse game between the two of them was adorable, he’d follow her, she’d follow him...both being purposely awful about it, because they wanted the other to know.
V managed to give her the slip to the other side of the room that he knew she didn’t know about before and he would stand there waiting for her to enter the room. Angel meanwhile, got frustrated when she lost him but her heart began to pound when she started to recognize where she was. She would reach the door and almost stopped herself from entering before she would growl out, “Get your shit together, you dumb bitch.” before turning the knob of the door and walking into the room that looked just as spectacular since the first time she found it. In fact it had looked very well kept, clean even which means that it’s not a secret anymore.
But she didn’t care. Her face looked relieved, she would pull her now long dark hair free just to loosen up even more. She’d let out a little laugh, almost giddy in nature.
“Oh how I have missed this. Sometimes taking the beauty in, in such small detail...it really is the little things in life.” Angel let out to no one in particular though she was sure she knew she was being listened upon, “Since losing the Victory Championship, I found myself wanting that. Despite my freedom, I was still very much still holding on to the damage that had been done to myself...inside and out. Truth be told, I’m glad to be rid of that title....for now. Because I have so much more room to grow.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not going sappy on anyone... in fact that whole having nothing to lose and creating a little chaos along the way has gained my attention. I wasn’t kidding when I said I will burn the damn place down now...PWE I mean...not this place. Here I have found home. And I won’t be content until I- ....we take the whole damn thing over.” she inhales and steps up to the mirror, “Jurgen is a poor pathetic shell of whatever potential he pissed away a while back. It almost feels like the powers that be wanted to test me just to see how much more dangerous I have become. The type of dangerous that Kaiser had the chance to be but now I get to rip apart once and for all.”
She cackles for a moment, lifting up her hand and tracing a line down like she’s tracing the shape of an outline in the mirror of someone else standing there, “And I hope he does keep coming back, because I do enjoy someone who is just a glutton for punishment.”
She stops her hand on the mirror, and steps in closer, her eyes staring up.
“But I know I’m not alone now. I’m no longer scared. I’ve seen...you.”
Her eyes drop for a second before glancing back up.
“Tell me you have always seen me.”
Just then we hear a click and as if almost by magic the two way mirror reveals the other side to see V standing there, mirroring her and those strange but beautiful brown eyes matching her green ones.
“I have always seen you, love.”
